La Joya, TX - La Joya ISD is strengthening its commitment to family engagement and student success by creating opportunities for parents to have a direct voice in conversations that shape the future of the District.

On Thursday, October 29, Superintendent Dr. Marcey Sorensen welcomed parent representatives for the first Superintendent Parent Advisory Committee meeting of the 2026 - 2027 school year, bringing families together for an evening of open dialogue, collaboration and meaningful engagement.

The session provided an opportunity for parents to share their perspectives, offer feedback and discuss ideas aimed at strengthening the educational experience for students across La Joya ISD.

Recognizing that parents are essential partners in education, the committee serves as an important connection between district leadership and the families whose children attend La Joya ISD schools. Through ongoing conversations, parent representatives get to engage directly with Dr. Sorensen while ensuring their perspectives are part of the District's continuous improvement efforts.

Through these sessions - as well as the educator and student advisory committees - La Joya ISD aims to strengthen trust, build meaningful relationships and create a more collaborative approach to supporting students both inside and outside the classroom.

Together, these committees reflect the District's commitment to listening, learning and working collaboratively to address challenges, celebrate progress and create stronger educational opportunities for every student.
